Roastbeef with black pepper sauce

A nice piece of meat without fat with a strong flavour.

It was new years eve and we should have a friend for dinner. He's really picky. So I wasn't sure about what I should make for dinner. I decided to make this dish. It's so simple and tasted so goood. We liked it and we didn't feel guilty after we ate it because it doesn't have so much fat. I think you must try it too.

500 gr. roast beef
1 tbsp. margarine
500 gr. small new potatoes, washed
250 gr. small carrots
250 gr. green beans
100 gr. dry thyme
salt and pepper.

Sauce:

1 tbsp. margarine
2 shallot onions, chopped
1 cloves garlic, chopped
2 dl. chicken broth
2 dl. whipping cream but not whipped.
ground black pepper, after taste
a pinche of sugar and salt

Cover the beef with salt and pepper. Fry on the pan with until brown. Sprinkle some salt, pepper and thyme on the potatoes. Beef and potatoes goes in the oven with 250 degrees for 15 minutes and turn down to 180 degrees for 30 minutes. After 30 mnt. ttake the beef out and turn of the oven but let the potatoes stay in. Wrap the beef with silver paper and leve it alone for 15 mnt.

Boil the carrot and the green beans.

fry the shallot onion and garlic with margarine in a small pot, pour the broth in and let it cooked for 15 mnt. Drain the broth and back in the pot, pour the cream and let it cook for 5 mnt. taste with salt and pepper.

Cut the beef in a tind slices and dish it with the greens and potatoes.

It sounds hard but it actually doesn't. While the beef and potatoes take care them selv in the oven, you can do the rest.

Don't forget the good red wine....

Meatball with curry sauce

This is how the danish likes eating their rice and curry. They normally use chopped pork, but my version is using chop beef and chicken.

250 gr. chop beef
250 gr. chop chicken meat.
1 onion, chopped
1 cloves garlic, chopped
2 tbsp. cornflour
1 tbsp. curry powder.
1 egg
salt and pepper.

mix greens, and steam rice.

Mix the beef, chicken, onion, garlic, 1 tbsp. flour and egg together. make them in to a small meat ball. Boil 1 lt. water, when it's boiling put the meat ball in, when they starting to float, it means it's ready. Fish them up. Put the curry powder in the boiling meatball water. Mix 1 tbsp. cornflour with a litlle water and pour it in the soup. The soup is starting to be thick, taste with salt and pepper. Put the meatball in to the curry sauce.
If you think the sauce is not thick enough, you can just make some more cornflour.

Serve with steamed rice and boiled greens.

Jewish cookies.
